Political Nanny: Obama Tells GOP to 'Lay Off My Wife'

Posted by Madeline Holler

The GOP fight like little brats. It's true. They're all ad hominem, you-did-it-first, guilt-by-association in making their case (come to think of it, the Dems can get like that, too. But Political Nanny is ranting against the GOP in this particular post). The sad thing is, Dems have often fallen for the tongue-wagging, lies and/or curiously edited video piece, either by not stating the truth (see: Kerry, John ... Swiftboat) or not calling them out by name on the name-calling.

Which is why Barack Obama is a campaign keeper. In his response on Good Morning America, with regard to a video produced by the Tennessee GOP that has been making the rounds and replays time and again Michelle's "first time proud of my country" statement, here's what Barack had to say:

"The GOP, should I be the nominee, I think can say whatever they want to say about me, my track record," Obama said. If they think that they're gonna try to make Michelle an issue in this campaign, they should be careful, because that I find unacceptable."

So do most of the rest of us. For the record, Political Nanny also finds it absurd how easily Dems/liberals/non-backers of John McCain so easily disparage Cindy McCain for nothing more than her looks or past indiscretions. While we're at it, let's lay off her too. Bill Clinton, however, is fair game. (Well, come on! You know he is.)
