Help me pick a Mother's Day gift (still)

Posted by Brett Singer

Thanks to everyone that weighed in here about what would make a good mother's day gift for the wife. Since I still haven't gotten anything, I thought I'd keep asking.

Lots of options out there, of course, including this one that Redsy mentioned. Here are a couple of others:

One that I stumbled onto was CowParade, which sells penguin-themed merchandise. HA! Gotcha! It's all cows. (Fooled you, didn't I? Yes, I need a nap.)

Anyway, they're selling special Mother's Day Figurines that look kind of cute. One problem -- buying a woman anything associated with cows, unless you live on a dairy farm, is probably a bad idea. (In fact, even if you live on a dairy farm it's probably a bad idea.) I'm going to nix this one right off the bat.

A couple of commenters suggested etsy.com. This is a site that sells handmade stuff, sort of a crafty-ebay (crafteBay? nah.) This shop, mangotreejewelry, was recommended. The items look relatively inexpensive, and fairly nice. Here are a couple of examples:

- Green Cluster Earrings, $21

Earrings

- The Tassel Necklace, $36

 Necklace

The price is certainly right. Not sure what the shipping costs are, and they don't say that they guarantee delivery by Mother's Day, although they also don't say that they don't.  So it's probably worth checking first.

So -- what do you think?  Yea or nay?

I don't know this particular shop, but I've had great experiences on Etsy - you can send the seller an email and ask them for shipment options, too.

Go with the tassel necklace. Lariats are super alluring on the neck and bust--it'll remind her that she's a hot mom and more than a mom to you :)

You absolutely can't go wrong with either choice. I have the tassel necklace myself. My husband doesn't care about jewelry much, but he definitely noticed that necklace. It's very sexy, but still as tasteful as all of their pieces.

Another vote for the tassel necklace.  Now how can I get that idea planted in my sweet husband's head?

Along the lines of Etsy, I'd recommend these shops:

lgbrinkley.etsy.com - she makes awesome ceramics, most with mom themes...

kimwestad.etsy.com - more porcelain, sorry.  BUT!  These pieces are fantastic and my mom loved hers :)

OR you could check out the whole Mother's Day Showcase here:

Good luck!
