Through a Google ad, I came across this: the Natural Baltic Amber Teething Necklace. Now, when you hear "teething" in relation to a baby product, you might think "something for a kid to put in their mouth to soothe the pain of teeth coming through the gums," something that, when you think about it, sounds unbelievably painful. In this case, you would be very wrong. This thing is like the crystals I used to see bouncing on the chests of Deadheads while they pranced in the parking lot at Giants Stadium. The amber "radiates energies of peace and calm to those who wear it," offering a "natural, drug-free alternative to the relief of teething pain in children."
Why does this work? Well, one theory is "based on scientific findings which have shown that amber is electromagnetically alive and produces significant amounts of organic, purely natural energy." I mean, like, duh. Who doesn't know that?
The necklace "may also protect us against the negative influences of electrical equipment like computers, televisions, mobile phones and microwave ovens." So it's like a child-sized tin foil hat. (You can make your own!)
Now, when you buy things for babies to wear, you need to be concerned about safety. Well, Amber Artisans has your back! The necklace is "made for wearing not for chewing!", and "All beads used are small enough to be swallowed and could be a choking hazard." But isn't that a bad idea in something that is being sold for babies, who do on occasion put things in their mouths that they shouldn't? This concern is easily alleviated by the fact that, "The string is knotted between each bead so should the necklace brake [sic] (which it should if necessary) all of beads [sic] will not scattered [sic]. The necklace fastens with a screw clasp." No mention is made of what substance the clasp is made out of, but I'm sure it's very sturdy, unlike the clasp of every piece of jewelry I've ever seen, and gives off nothing but positive energy.
If anyone has bought one of these and would like to share their experience, good or bad, I'd love to hear from you.
