Maybe We Should Switch To Sporks

Posted by Brett Singer

That Forkin' Spoon...Much like playing "The Name Game" with someone named "Chuck" ("Chuck chuck, bo buck, banana fana fo fu... oops!"), it is not a good idea to have a two year old say "fork and spoon" in polite company.

Why not?

(Fork - r = Fok) + (In - n = n) + Spoon = Fokkin' Spoon

Say it out loud. But not while Phyllis Schlafly is listening.

Similar to when my 2 year old daughter sees a "big truck" but only says "big" plus the "ch" sound at the beginning of truck = "b**ch".  I can't help but laugh, so she keeps doing it!

My daughter has problems with fork, too. Her babysitter couldn't figure out what "fok" meant.

My guy gets very excited when he sees a fire truck... unfortunately, he says (Fire-ire)+(Truck-tr)=

Well, you get the picture. But it's too funny!

I wouldn't let my oldest kid say "fork" in public for years.

So no fire trucks - we'll stick with ambulances and police cars. Duly noted.

My friend Danny tells the story of his toddler Nate, who had been watching Daffy Duck cartoons into the den, being asked to come out and say "goodnight" to the extended family gathering in the living room, before being put to bed. The creative boy, finding himself at the center of attention, gave a big Daffy wave and sang out, "So long, suckers!" only the second "s" came out sounding like an "f". The aunties were shocked, needless to say...
