It's nice to hear a story about a diner who almost chokes on something inedible in a restaurant that does NOT involve litiginous frauds on the one hand, or serious health code violations on the other.
A Florida man found a rare purple pearl in his clam dinner last Friday. I didn't even know clams could produce pearls. As it turns out, only about 1 in 100,000 quahogs contain pearls, and only about 5% of those are gem quality. That ten dollar meal may actually net the family close to $25,000.
So I think this New Year's Eve, instead of the same tired resolutions about weight loss and time management, I'm going to resolve to just Pay More Attention. That pretty much sums it all up anyway.
Happy treasure hunting in 2008!
