"Redneck Timeout": Child Abuse

Posted by Karen Murphy

I'm so incensed by this, I just want to reach through this photo and grab that poor baby off the wall and hug her.  Somebody needs to.  How long was she hanging there like that while some whacked-out nutjob asshat taped her to the wall?  This is DUCT TAPE, people!  Not funny!  That stuff hurts!  This is a picture of child abuse.  Remember this.  Now go hug your babies.

Oy.  I hope this is Photoshopped.  Even so, still not very funny... but at least it wouldn't be sick.

I dont' know ... it's kind of cute, non of the tape is touching skin or hair and it looks nicely reinforced and the kid doesn't seem at all distressed. Probably, it's a joke. Probably, it's the first and last time it was done (that's quite a bit of tape). Probably not even done by a true redneck. The taped up duck's a nice touch.

note the hipster colored circles to the right ... looks like a prank by some city dad to me.

Is it bad that I laughed first before thinking that this was a form of child abuse.    Where did you get the photo from?   It seems like it's more of a joke than anything else.

Mama22Boys:  Google "Redneck Timeout" and you'll find a host of places.

Peter:  Someone at one place I saw this does suggest that this was photoshopped, but it looks real to me.

Birdfourth:  If you see the photo up close, the baby doesn't look all that happy.  Not crying, sure, but not thrilled to be there.  And note the hand clutching the duck.

Papaganoose:  Do hipster dads own duct tape?  I thought the circles were part of some deranged game of Twister.
