Oh Rebecca! Does she have red hair? It's funny Acher and Jack looks so much alike, My husband thought Archer was Jack when he glanced up at my computer screen. Collette has the reddest of hair. Neither Garth nor I do, but I've been dying mine to match (don't tell anyone!)

She's so beautiful. Such a sweet family.

Love the clothes you put her in and that sailor dress pic, sigh....so adorable. I too love the girl "stuff" and I dress mine (who is 2) up just for daycare or to go to the grocery store - her outfit has to match, her bows/barrettes match, etc. I paint her toenails and fingernails and she twirls in front of a mirror when done to see her dress swirl around her. And she says "Like that mommy, like that!" LOVE it all! I have a 7 year-old son also, and clothing for him was/is BORING most of the time! My little peanut is the opposite on the scale factor - she is 10th percentile, so she can still wear some 12-18 month clothes..which is nice because we get a little more wear from things. Love your stories and your blog - thanks for sharing your writing gifts!

Oh, the green duck dress... She does rock it! I remember the wonderfulness when you posted about it last year, and it made me remember that fun shopping trip on Larchmont last summer, when you brought us to that same shop so I could get my son cool t-shirts! Ah, great trip, I miss LA... I'm so making him wear one tomorrow now.

I too am guilty as charged when it comes to playing dress ups with my daughter. And I have the same problem with certain items of clothing suddenly fitting a lot sooner than expected. I bought her a new winter jacket recently and had to take it back and exchange it for the next size up, complaining the whole time about the "ill fit" and "crazy sizing system". And then it happened again. And again. Erm, maybe just maybe I have a big baby on my hands.

Hey, all the more roly poly ankles to love!

Oh and Rebecca, you were right. She suits those ducks to a tee.

Cute dresses, but she really isn't 'the biggest baby of all time.' She looks like a typical, fat baby to me. I don't know why so many women get off on having the fattest, biggest baby, makes no sense. My youngest weighed in at 10lbs 6oz and I didn't scream it from the mountain tops. Did her doctor ever diagnose why her head is so huge?

I've always loved all thinks pink and pretty, so I was SO excited when I had a little girl - a living, breathing doll - what more could I ask for?! I was especially lucky that she's had tonnes of hair from day 1 - she's been wearing bows and pigtails from the moment I was first able to squish enough hair into tiny elastics. I can't tell you how happy I am, even now that she's a bit older than 2yrs - she LOVES dresses, and has never complained about anything I've dressed her in. I'm sure one day she'll revolt, but for now, I'm soaking it all in :)

Yes, one of the BEST parts of having a girl (I don't have any kids but this is a fact) is, "Getting to dress them up!" I can only imagine it being so much fun. There's just so many choices that the fun must be limitless. ;D

Man, I'm feeling really lucky right now. I have a 4 year old daughter and she wears whatever I pick out for her everyday. Except for when we are getting "dressed up" for something. She has to be able to pick the dress out. But even then I hold the ones I approve of in my hand, and she picks from those.

Fable is GORGEOUS! Love both the dresses, but the ducks is my favorite.

You're lucky that she's "up there" in the percentiles. Imagine how bummed you'd be if she reached that size in November or January.

Don't be too scared of the fickleness - we have some of that, but it's within the clothes that are available to her. I do the shopping, she chooses from what she's got. She's not about to go naked, so you can still get her into cute stuff. It is a shame, though, when they refuse to wear some cute thing for a full season until it no longer fits...

And The Bun is a big guy, too, wearing his 12 month clothing by 7 months (he's now 8.5). The nice thing about dresses, though, is they can be worn for a longer span, because the fit is less precise, so I often let Pumpkinpie wear hers a size ahead and until the bodice gets too tight and under her arms, but since she's a thin girl, and not too tall, she can often wear a dress for two summers. Then you can get more mileage out of them for when you've gone and spent more than you meant to!

Hey, I'm not pregnant and don't have children (YET!) but I'm already dreaming of the dresses I'll be making (don't know how my son (?) would feel about that).

She's adorable, make me smile, and yearn even more for the family to come. xx

Okay, that duck dress is just too crazy cute and Fable in it? Unstoppable. Was it Flicka? I've had moments of weakness in Flicka shopping for my little lady. Somehow not being able to afford it ceases to matter when I think of how awesome she'll look.

I've heard the same thing that Downer (above) is saying and have been trying to enjoy dressing my babe up while I can. I know a day will come that she'll only want to wear polyester princess costumes so I want to make sure that I've made the most of the time during which I'm in charge of her wardrobe.

I hate to tell you this, but enjoy this phase while it lasts. I have two girls and everyone always says, "Oh, you're so lucky! You get to dress them up and do their hair!" Um, except no you can't. Not past the age of 18 months (which, for DD1 was *just* when she actually got hair.) Go ahead and make/buy dresses to find out she won't wear one anymore. Buy cute jeans and she'll insist she only wants elastic-waist pants b/c it's easier to use the potty. Buy the cutest ones possible and she'll be back into dresses...but only *after* summer/sundress season has passed and now it's winter and she ONLY wants dresses but won't wear tight. So now you have to go hunting for leggings that match all the "approved dresses." Once you get them, she's not only refusing them, but now she refuses everything but the hideous Disney Princess nighties her grandmother bought.

And even though she's got GORGEOUS hair, she'll barely let me comb it and slap a barrette in.

*sigh* See? Total downer, right? My point is...enjoy it while it lasts.
