I always had car-crushes even before I knew how to drive. At twelve I coveted the Mazda Miata. I wanted one in green. It was omigawd, so totally me.
And then I got older and was like, "psh... I want a Del Sol!" And then,
at 15, I fell in love with the Volkswagen Cabriolet which turned into
an obsession which soon became my car. Yes. I got a car on my 16th
birthday. I was that girl. But so was everyone else in my 'hood
so no one hated on my phat ride with cow-seat covers. Especially in the
summertime when everyone piled in and we cruised the coast with my top
down, blasting Bad Religion and MXPX and every bad surfer-punk rock I
could get my paws on. I OWNED that car... for a year and until the
whole shaking-on-the-freeway thing after 65mph got annoying So I traded
that bitch in for a Jetta with (I kid you not) a vanity plate. I'm not
going to tell you what it said. I'm embarrassed. And besides, I traded
that shit years ago and got me a wagon. A station wagon.
And ever since? I've been in love. Head over heels in hot drooly lust over all things wagon. I have become a station wagon connoisseur.
Men
who drive station wagons? Always hot. Kids in the back of station
wagons? Always cute. New station wagons? Awesome. Old station wagons?
Classic. Dream station wagon? This. Other dream station wagon? This. My favorite transportation device that isn't a station wagon but kind of seems like the bike equivalent: This. (Owned and operated by a dear friend of mine who also, might I add, drives a station wagon. OF COURSE she does. Of course.
