  • Howl Be Thy Name

We haven't started speech therapy yet. We will soon enough but in the meantime Archer has decided to start talking. A little bit. He has three words/phrases:

    1. Berry = Bu-bu-bu-BEWWWWY.

    Raspberries

    2. Where'd it go = whe-di-goooooo?

    3. Daddy = Howl

Archer's Daddy is named Hal, so I can say that yes, "Howl" means Daddy. It means "Hal." Archer is two-years-old and he calls his dad by his first name. But at least he gets a name. I am nameless. I am, "Eh."

    Yes...

    Mommy = Eh.

    So unfair.

  • ASL

And by ASL, I mean "Archer as a Second Language," because as we near month 20, (OHMYGODHOLYSHITHE'SGROWINGSOFASTAHHH!) Archer, still boycotting English, has mastered one language: his own. Complete gibberish? Maybe to you and me, but to him? It is the only way to communicate.

Soooo... After months of trying to teach Archer to speak English, begging him to repeat words, etc, I've given up. Retired. Thrown in the hat. Instead, I've decided that I will have to learn Archer. After all, EVERYONE speaks English these days. It's so totally trendy.

I have so far learned that "AkshartoopasdjakjhlpkooabababapAHwalokuoywataba" means "No". But it also means,"yes". And hello. Kind of like "Aloha" except it's a lot harder to pronounce.

Here, for example, is a day-in-the-life conversation between the two of us:

Any idea what he's saying? Because I suck at language and know, like, three words of Espanol even though I took Spanish for four years in High School:

Tengo un lapiz = Do you have a pencil?

Donde estas la biblioteca = Where is the library?

Puedo ir al bano = Where is the bathroom?

Mi llama es Rebecca = My name is Rebecca

*Soy muy confusidades con ASL = Ayuda, por favor! Ayuda! = I am very confused with ASL.  Help, please! Help!

Seriously. Does anyone out there have a translator on hand?

    *told you my Spanish sucks
