The
Democratic presidential candidates are mining superdelegate votes in
Canada. Now, they know America's coldest neighbor isn't
actually a 51st state, right?
Right. But Ontario happens to be home to a couple of expats who have lived there since the 1970s and are also executives of the Toronto chapter of Democrats Abroad. Who knew?
Obama and Clinton campaign managers, that's who. And they've been aggressively bugging Robert Bell and Toby Condliffe for their superdelegate support.
In the Toronto Star:
"Oh, I tell you, I get three or four calls a day," says Bell. "It
started late last year. I've had calls from both (former) president
(Bill) Clinton and Senator Clinton. Dick Durbin, the senator from
Illinois (an Obama supporter and majority whip) called me from his
cellphone. I've been polled by The New York Times, CNN and AP."
So who's it going to be? Well, Bell is endorsing Clinton. Condliffe will vote for Obama.
Looks like Canada won't be deciding the Democratic nomination either. But Political Nanny likes how nice the superdelegates play with each other.
