It looks like Gwyneth Paltrow wasn't just attracted to husband Chris Martin for his rock-star vibe - she also liked the way he could mend the ruffle on her Prada mini.

The Coldplay frontman says that he and his bandmates like nothing better than some time threading the needle. And, no, that isn't a euphemism.

"Making clothes together in our studio makes us feel complete. We probably sound like a group of grannies in a knitting circle but it's the truth and it gives us some control over our visual identity," Martin says.

And while most bands head straight for the Stoli after a big show, Martin says he and the boys like to kick back by hemming their pants. "We see if they have a sewing kit in the amenities draw in case we feel inspired."

"When you are a big band and everyone is taking shots at you, the more things you can do together the better. And if you're wearing uniforms made by your own hands it helps achieve that."

Those mad skillz should come in handy when Chris needs to whip up some nice back-to-school clothes for Apple and Moses.

Is Chris Martin A Thief?

It seems highly implausible that Chris Martin and his Coldplay cronies could be responsible for lifting so much as a contraband wheatgrass smoothie, but that hasn't stopped certain people from making accusations.

Brooklyn-based band Creaky Boards accused Martin and Coldplay of grand theft musical, claiming that Coldplay's single 'Viva La Vida' is a rip-off of their song, 'The Songs I Didn't Write' (irony much?)

E! Online reports:

Creaky Boards singer Andrew Hoepfner posted a YouTube video that combines both "Viva la Vida" and "The Songs I Didn't Write" with text in which he claims he and his band thought they saw Martin in the audience when the Creaky Boards played the CMJ festival in October 2007.

"We were flattered when we thought we spotted Chris Martin in the crowd that night. He seemed pretty into it!...Maybe TOO into it," writes Hoepfner.

A rep for Coldplay denied the accusations, telling the Guardian that Coldplay cut a demo for "Viva la Vida" in March 2007 and that Martin couldn't possibly have been at the CMJ show because he was in London recording.

Ah, alibis. So inconvenient. In an email to E! News, Hoepfner elaborated:

"Soon after the video blew up, I received a call from Coldplay's manager. They were really nice about the whole thing and explained about their whereabouts and old demos. I guess the song similarities are just a coincidence...great minds think alike?

"Anyway, I must have been mistaken about seeing Chris at the show because all British people look the same. I lived in London for six weeks and I seriously thought every third person on the corner was Coldplay."

Wow, he backed off fast, didn't he? What do you wanna bet that that 'really nice about the whole thing' phone call was really a 'back off or you'll never play a gig in this town again' phone call?
