I love the mother/daughter look they have going on - parkas with pants tucked into matching boots. You know, I tried this with my tween girls, but people kept trying to throw a blanket over me. I guess they just didn't appreciate my belly-baring crop top and hip huggers. Or maybe it was the Jonas Brothers backpack. Whatever - people are so judgmental.

Heath Ledger Wins SAG Award for "Dark Knight"

Late actor Heath Ledger was honored with the best supporting actor award at the Screen Actor's Guild Awards for his portrayal of The Joker in last summer's blockbuster "The Dark Knight."

Ledger's "The Dark Knight" co-star Gary Oldman accepted the award on his behalf.

"I'm quite emotional," Oldman said. "It is a great honor to be asked to accept this on behalf of Heath. He was an extraordinary young man with an extraordinary talent, and it is wonderful that you have acknowledged that and honored that talent tonight."

Ledger's performance has been generating Oscar buzz since before his death last January from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs. With the SAG win and his Golden Globe win earlier this month, Ledger now looks certain to receive the supporting-actor Oscar on Feb. 22.

This must be another bittersweet moment for Ledger's family. After the actor was honored at the Golden Globes, they issued a statement saying the award would eventually go to Matilda, Ledger's daughter with Michelle Williams. I'm sure the SAG award will go to her as well.

Heath Ledger is Golden

Heath Ledger's much-heralded performance as the Joker in the blockbuster "The Dark Knight" has earned him a posthumous Golden Globe nomination. Ledger is nominated for best performance by an actor in a supporting role.

In a statement to People magazine, the late actor's father Kim Ledger expressed the family's gratitude. "We thank the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for honoring Heath's performance in The Dark Knight."

He added, "This nomination is deeply appreciated and is not lost on those of us who continue to love and miss him. We are so proud our boy's work is being recognized in this way."

It must difficult, and bittersweet, for a parent to accept such an honor on behalf of a son who died so young. But what a great legacy Heath leaves behind for his 3-year-old daughter Matilda.

Earlier in the month Ledger was honored at the Australia Film Actors Awards. His sister Kate spoke lovingly on behalf of the family. "It's been without a doubt the most difficult year, losing such a loved family member.

"We are so proud of him and humbly accept this award on behalf of his beautiful daughter, who we will cherish forever."

Get ready for another celebrity baby rumor, imagined baby bump and denials from their reps - Christian Bale and wife Sandra "Sibi" Blazic are said to be expecting their second child. The Dark Knight actor and Blazic have a daughter Emmeline, 2.

An MSNBC source reportedly spotted Blazic shopping for baby items in Los Angeles and then purchasing a changing pad. And, as you know, if you look up 'changing pad' in the dictionary you'll find, "An item that signifies pregnancy in the human female."

A Bale source blows off the rumor by saying, “People buy items for friends all the time. Doesn’t mean you should read into it."

Yes, let us know when you spot her buying the packs of newborn diapers, the crib, the twelve-piece layette set and the five-gallon drum of Ben & Jerry's.

Now, that's proof of pregnancy.

Who Will Play Catwoman? Hint: NOT ANGELINA!

Rumors started by The New York Times and Julie Newmar had Angelina Jolie vying for the role of Catwoman (which would be totally hot. But sadly, untrue.)

Instead, it seems that Christopher Nolan has someone else in mind. It also seems he is off his nut.

The facts: Maggie Gyllenhaal and Aaron Eckhart signed on for two Bat-pictures. A source close to Maggie Gyllenhaal confirmed that she’s excited about the next movie, “why else would she, or Katie Holmes for that matter, take on the thankless roll of Rachel Dawson? After Katie left the role, they could’ve created a new character. But that wasn’t part of Nolan’s plan. This is the trajectory he’s planned for Rachel since the first movie. Not only is Maggie contractually obligated, but she’s already getting in shape for Batman 3.”

“It shows Christopher Nolan has imagination that he didn’t cast me as the villain,” said Gary Oldman (Jim Gordon), “since somehow I got into this thing of always playing these eccentric characters. But I always liked the Riddler. I liked the whole Riddle aspect. I loved the suit. I thought the suit was pretty cool. You have to be pretty fit, though, don’t you, to wear the Riddler outfit?”

Same for Catwoman’s outfit, but Maggie Gyllenhaal (Rachel Dawes) is willing to try it on for size. “I liked Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman,” Gyllenhaal said.

“There was alaways a Batman movie out in the summer when I was growing up, but I usually couldn’t care less. But doing this movie, I started to get it. I felt it. I understood.” Especially when she’d had a scene where “Batman would save me from certain death and envelope me with his cape,” she said. “I thought, ‘Oh, that kind of feels good.’ ”

And since Catwoman is sometimes saved by Batman, Gyllenhaal said she wouldn’t mind borrowing one of her nine lives, just to relive that experience. “Yeah!”

Sigh. If this is true, I will cry. Catwoman should be sexy. Maggie is about as sexy as a houseplant. I like her, but she oozes good girl.

David Duchovny Hasn't Changed, Still Whining

Some of you may be too young to recall the days of the X-Files television show when it was quite popular. It was filmed in Vancouver for an episode and I recall the hub-bub surrounding what was my neighbourhood at the time. I also recall a lot of press being given to David Duchovny and his incessant whining about how horrible Vancouver was.

Well he hasn't changed.

Duchovny is blaming the lack of success of the X-Files movie on Batman.

The X-Files: I Want To Believe opened with an unimpressive $10 million in ticket sales last weekend, which Duchovny put down to having to compete with the Batman sequel.

He said: "I'd prefer if it was a huge hit, but there are mitigating circumstances. We happened to open on the worst day in the history of cinema - the second week of Batman. The only thing worse would be to open with Batman and nobody would've done that."

Duchovny suggested that the movie still has a chance of turning a profit because of its relatively small budget.

"We're competing for the same audience with what they're saying will be the highest grossing film of all time," he said. "What saves us is that we only cost $29 million to make. We're a small movie masquerading as a blockbuster."

No David, I hate to break it to you but you and that robot Amanda Peet, along with a crappy plot, managed to run the movie into the ground with your montone acting. Back when the show was popular, the only thing that kept us watching was the plot line -- not you.

I saw the X-Files last weekend and it was only marginally better than the first X-Files movie, which, as I recall, also left me disappointed.

Do us a favor and quit acting sweetheart. You are bringing Gillian Anderson down.

Angelina Jolie Highly Interested in Catwoman Role

It looks as though Angelina Jolie has been tipped to play Catwoman, should director Christopher Nolan resurrect the part.

Former Catwoman Julie Newmar tells the New York Daily News, "Angelina would own the part. My industry friends tell me (she) has made inquiries about the role. I can understand how it would pique her interest. Catwoman is Batman's one true love. She's tremendously popular with women because she's both a heroine and a villainess."

Jolie would definitely be hot in that role, but I think a darker version would be in order if she were to act the part.

Maggie Gyllenhaal had a taste of what's it's like to be a new celebrity mom, when baby Ramona was just 5 days old. The paps were so anxious to get a picture of her and the baby, that they called her and told her there was a fire in her building. Scum!

"The paparazzi were just really awful to us. I mean, they called the fire department and told them there was a fire in our little, tiny building in the West Village (New York) so that we would have to come outside with a five-day-old baby."

The false fire alert almost led Gyllenhaal to turn down the role of Rachel Dawes in the new Batman movie, The Dark Knight.

She tells the Los Angeles Times newspaper, "I was trying to navigate my way through that (media intrusion) when this offer came. I thought, 'It's going to push that stuff further probably.' But what am I going to do? I'm going to hide and not do things that are appealing to me? I'm an actress."

Christian Bale has been tapped by Ridley Scott to play Robin Hood in "Nottingham".

The newest version of the classic tale of Robin Hood will be a twisted one with the Sheriff of Nottingham as the good guy and Robin working for the evil and lawless king. (Is that redundant?)

Though it's not set in stone, we can hope that next year we will be watching Christain Bale swinging through the forest bringing his special brand villainy to the big screen.

Heath Ledger's close friend Vincent Fantauzzo painted a portrait of the late actor and father and it's won the People's Choice Award at Australia's Archibald Prize Exhibition. And the painting is absolutely amazing!

A large number of people voted - more than 32,000. A rep for the Art Gallery of NSW, said the Ledger family and Vincent will donate the prize-winning portrait to the gallery.

Mr. Fantauzzo received a $2,500 and $1,000 gift certificate with his award. He issued this statement on his website:

I would like to say thank you to those who have emailed with kind words regarding my recent portrait of Heath Ledger. I feel privileged and inspired to have known him and my thoughts are with his family.

The painting called "Heath," was done at Ledger's family home in Perth shortly before the 28-year-old actor died.

Are your kids Batman fans? Are they crazy about The Joker character? Better get in line if you want a Heath Ledger "The Joker" doll - they're selling like hotcakes!

Toy stores all over New York have line-ups, people waiting to pick up their very own plastic action figure of Heath Ledger as The Joker. The toys are selling out like crazy.

Bob Friedland, a spokesman for Toys 'R' us said, "We are getting these products, all of the Dark Knight action figures, on a regular basis." However, he may be trying to down play the sellout. Stores are apparently running out quickly. An employee for Toys 'R' Us said, "There are none left in the warehouse, either. You will be waiting a while if you want one."

Many other NY stores are still waiting for shipments. The doll retails for $9.99 but there have been some sold on Ebay at much higher prices. One doll reportedly sold for $55 (as a set with an other doll).

I wonder how strange it will be for Heath's daughter Matilda when she gets older, to see a doll of her daddy?

Batman: The Dark Knight is slated for a July 18, 2008 release.

Colin Farrell: Taking On Heath's Role A 'Painful Honor'

Colin Farrell says that he's honored beyond measure to be taking on one of the three roles that will replace Heath Ledger in "The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus," but painfully so.

He says he accepted the role as a tribute to Heath. "It's about getting Heath's work out there. He's too good for any of his work not to be seen," Colin told Sydney's Daily Telegraph. "It makes me feel uncomfortable to think about it too much but it's an incredibly painful honor to have, you know, and an honor I wish wasn't bestowed, but an honor nonetheless."

The other actors who are taking over Heath's role are Johnny Depp and Jude Law. (Note: all of the actors playing this role? ALL dads. Go dads!) They will each take over playing Tony, Heath's character, when he steps through a magic mirror into an alternate reality at several different points in the film.

I, for one, am thrilled that we'll get to see a Colin-Johnny-Jude sandwich - of a sort - but, yeah - the cost of it was far too high.

Just don't do it. Stick to Barbie. She'll just rifle through your shoe closet, and maybe try on your lipstick. Nothing to be afraid of, unless malproportioned plastic tits freak you out.

This, I think, is a tad disturbing: just a week after Heath Ledger's funeral, toy company Mattel has announced that it will release a Heath Ledger doll. You know, for the kiddies.

From Page Six:

Mattel has announced that the company will be releasing two dolls featuring Heath as the Joker. One version will come with a rocket launcher and the other will be armed with a little knife and both will be marketed to coincide with the release of The Dark Knight in July.

A spokesman for the Ledger family says that they gave the project their blessing: "Heath was very proud of his work in the film and his family is aware and supportive of the plans for the movie."

It's nice that his family is supportive, but isn't the only relevant party here his daughter? Who's going to explain to Matilda why it is that Daddy only comes in miniature - and creepy, lipsticked knife-wielding supervillian miniature, at that? I know that knife-wielding Joker dolls aren't marketed to pre-schoolers, but still. I find it creepy.

The family of Heath Ledger is planning to hold a wake for close family and friends at Cottesloe Beach in Perth on Saturday.

Reportedly Heath's dad, Kim said that the family wanted to honor him at one of his favorite places - the beach where he grew up and learned to surf.

Ledger had even talked about this beach on an appearance on the Jay Leno Show in 2002. A childhood friend, Paul Mullert said to the Australian Times Heath was "the quintessential Australian, who loved nothing more [than] slipping on a pair of boardies and his [flip-flops] and heading to Cottesloe Beach."

We remain humble as parents and a family, among millions of people worldwide who may have suffered the tragic loss of a child. Few can understand the hollow, wrenching, and enduring agony parents silently suffer when a child predeceases them. Today's results put an end to speculation, but our son's beautiful spirit and enduring memory will forever remain in our hearts.

While no medications were taken in excess, we learned today the combination of doctor-prescribed drugs proved lethal for our boy. Heath's accidental death serves as a caution to the hidden dangers of combining prescription medication, even at low dosage.

Our family enjoyed an extremely happy two week visit with Heath just prior to the New Year. Those recent precious days will stay with us forever. We as a family feel privileged to have some of his amazing magic moments captured in film. To most of the world Heath was an actor of immeasurable talent and promise. To those who knew him personally, Heath was a consummate artist whose passions also included photography, music, chess and directing. We knew Heath as a loving father, as our devoted son, and as a loyal and generous brother and friend.

Heath Ledger's death on January 22 was due to an accidental overdose of prescription drugs the New York City medical examiner's office reported Wednesday morning.

"Mr. Heath Ledger died as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam, and doxylamine," spokesperson Ellen Borakove said.

"We have concluded that the manner of death is accident, resulting from the abuse of prescription medications," the two-paragraph statement said in its entirety.

Ledger was found dead in his New York apartment on January 22.

Is this creepy, exploitative, spooky, or all of the above? Some crazy-assed church in Nigeria (no, NOT the Church of Scientology; they haven't infiltrated Nigeria because, um, Nigerians have no moneys) is claiming that their 'prophet' prophesied the death of Heath Ledger - now known to be from an accidental overdose - after seeing it in a vision.

According to the Synagogue, Church of all Nations website:

“I (Prophet TB Joshua) was shown in a vision in the morning concerning a personality that would go on a long journey – a journey of no return. So we lift up our voice and pray. If it is the will of God, let the will of God be done. A personality, a famous person, a well known person that would just leave this earth and go on a journey forever. It is a personality that is not old. People still want him. We have to pray that the will of God should be done.”

These were words of prophecy uttered by Prophet T.B. Joshua in The Synagogue Church Of All Nations, Lagos Nigeria during the Sunday Service on the 13th January 2008.

He later referred to this particular prophecy the following Sunday, 20th January 2008, saying:

“Remember the message I gave last Sunday. I don’t want to repeat it because it is not something to be excited about. It’s in the record. I will not stand here and begin to repeat that message again. If there is something to be excited about, I will repeat it. I just want to remind you. Let’s come together. On Tuesday, you have to fast and pray”.

On returning to their various homes, those that switched on their television sets were met with BREAKING NEWS. Heath Ledger, the renowned, popular, Academy Award-nominated Australian actor was found dead in his Manhattan apartment, New York City. As they watched, shocked by these events, they must have recalled the message of prophecy spoken by Prophet T.B. Joshua the previous Sunday.

This prophecy and its fulfilment show that God Almighty is indeed sovereign. He is omnipresent, omniscient and holds the world in His hands.

Wow. They kind of lost me with the Bible camp campfire song at the end there. This prophecy and its fulfillment - Heath's death - show that God's got the whole world in his hands? I'm enough of an agnostic to simply disregard any and all claims of prophecy, but I'd have to go a step further here and say WTF? If the tragic death of a young father shows anything, it's that God's got a bad case of the dropsies.

Still, it's not quite offensive as the claim made the other day that we, as society, are thinking celebrities to death, and need to turn to The Secret to save them. Close, but not quite.

Heath Ledger's ex, Michelle Williams and his baby girl Matilda, made their final, sad journey to say good bye and are now in Perth. Williams, dressed in all black, was seen holding Matilda, while the toddler carried a stuffed toy rabbit.

Reportedly security was tight as the pair arrived and Michelle did not make any comments concerning the funeral of her ex fiance. They landed around 3pm on a flight from Los Angeles via Melbourne.

Heath Ledger Autopsy Results Delayed

The results of Heath Ledger's autopsy and toxicology tests were due to be released today, but sources say that these have been delayed.

Scopical News reports that The New York Medical Examiner's office has said that it was set to provide the results from the tests today, however that this had been delayed by 24-hours. No reason for the delay has been reported, but a representative from the office said that the report would be released tomorrow.

An initial autopsy of the actor found the cause of his death to be inconclusive, with further tests of tissue and toxicology samples conducted in the last two weeks. There's been rampant speculation that the actor died of some sort of drug overdose, accidental or otherwise, but his family and friends have vehemently denied that this is possible.

Whatever the case, we should know tomorrow. For better or worse.
