Edie Falco and her 4 year-old son Anderson celebrate on the field at last night's Mets game after Edie threw out the ceremonial first pitch.

From the reports I've read, Edie has quite the arm. She apparently zinged a near strike from behind the pitchers mound. That's better than a whole lot of dudes, Mario Lopez for example (who walked up like ten steps).

I guess that speaks pretty loudly for Edie's strength as a single mother, a former alcoholic, and a breast cancer survivor. On her own, Edie is raising two kids Anderson, 4, and Macy, 15 months, both adopted.

She's got a new show coming up on Showtime called Nurse Jackie in which she plays the lead character, a brilliant and flawed Vicodin-popping ER nurse.

Patton Oswalt Welcomes a Baby Girl

Patton Oswalt, who voiced Rémy in the animated hit Ratatouille and who currently stars in The United States of Tara, became a father for the first time. Oswalt and his wife Michelle welcomed daughter Alice Rigney Oswalt on April 15 in Los Angeles.

"I'm blissfully exhausted and exhausted-ly blissful," Oswalt tells People magazine.

Congratulations to the happy parents! And I promise I'm going to see Ratatouille someday. I swear.

Natascha McElhone Shows Off Baby Boy for First Time

Actress Natascha McElhone, most recently seen in the series "Californication," lost her husband recently after a sudden death from heart attack. And she was pregnant at the time. Since then, she's had the baby, Rex, who was born in October.

Natascha showed up to her latest movie premiere - "Heaven and Earth" - with Rex in tow and showed him off to the press for the first time. She brought her other sons, too - Theo, 8, and Otis, 5.

Cute family, yeah? I really enjoy Natascha's films, ever since "Ronin." Sad, losing her husband when he was only 42. Wish her all the best.

Mary Louise Parker Always Dreamed of Adopting

Mary Louise Parker, star of "Weeds," says that bringing William Atticus into her world in 2004 was a "massive" moment for her. William is 5 now and is Mary Louise's son with actor Billy Crudup. But that's not to say that it was any less amazing when she welcomed 2-year-old daughter Caroline "Ash" Aberash in 2007. She adopted Ash from Ethiopia.

Mary Louise, 44, says she dreamed of adopting a child when she was just a little girl herself. "I remember being little and asking my parents if we could adopt," she says. "I just always was attracted to the idea, and I love what it says and what it means."

"There are millions of children in this world, and I think if you have the energy and the resources, then it’s something you should really look into."

Actress Natascha McElhone, star of movie "Solaris" and TV show "Californication," has given birth to her third child five months after her husband died unexpectedly of a hereditary heart condition. Husband Martin Kelly was a plastic surgeon at the same London hospital where she gave birth.

Natascha, 36, had the baby 2 weeks early at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. The baby's sex hasn't yet been revealed. Natascha already has sons Theo, 8, and Otis, 5. Of her late husband, she said, "He was the love of my life."

Congratulations, Natascha. Wonderful news in the face of such tragedy.

Actress Natascha McElhone, known for roles in "The Truman Show," "Solaris," and "The Other Boleyn Girl," is expecting her third child and is due in just weeks. But it'll have to be without her husband, Martin Kelly, who died of a surprise heart attack in May. The couple already had a pair of sons - Theo, 8, and Otis, 5, and it's been because of them that Natascha has been able to push on through life. She hasn't had any time to be "self-indulgent." With children depending on you, there's no room for that.

McElhone, 36, was working on Showtime's "Californication" and got a voicemail from her husband just 13 minutes before his death in London. Her sons were with her in Los Angeles at the time of their father's death. The couple were planning on celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary the next week, along with the 20-week ultrasound for the baby.

"He left me this message, full of the joys...he couldnt wait to come out, he was so excited about the scan, so excited about the baby," she tells the Times Online. "Thank God, a lovely last message."

It was a family friend who called hours later to give Natascha the horrible news. "I dropped the phone and my knees sort of buckled under me." And telling the boys, who were just across the street playing?

"I thought of trying to suspend time or wait and not tell them for a day but I couldn’t bear the idea of other people knowing and them not. I remember looking out of the window and seeing them chasing after each other with huge squeals of delight and thinking, 'I’m about to shatter their world.' They came in and they were like little boys are, full of energy and excitement, and I told them what had happened. And then the clouds descended...it was awful."

Since then she has made memory boxes for all three children, filling them with lots of Martin's favorite music, letter written by friends, and other keepsakes so that the kids will have a better grasp on who their father was. The kids seem to be responding well.

Natascha's third child is due in about a month. We wish her all the best.

I've only seen the first season of "Weeds." I know, I don't get Showtime or HBO. Sucks. But I've always thought Mary Louise Parker was kind of hot. Now here she is in the season finale of "Weeds" - naked. Um, I'm calling DirecTV right now to get a Showtime subscription. Can't wait for it to get on DVD so I can get it through Netflix. Well, I suppose there's Bittorent.

Parker is the mother of two children: William Atticus Parker, 4, and adopted daughter Caroline from Ethiopia.

Kate Hudson Keeps Ryder Safe in Miami

If I've learned anything from watching Dexter (on Showtime, not CBS) it's that Miami is a dangerous city. Kate Hudson must have heard this as well. It's kind of a helpless feeling, as a parent.

That's why I applaud the steps she's taken here. The shark shirt is brilliant, should young Ryder find himself on the beach during shark week he'll blend right in. Same thing with his croc shoes and the alligators in the swamp (gators can't tell the difference between themselves and crocodiles, they're not bright). Throw on a helmet in case the Dolphins need a new running back and he's set. Kate's legs should cover anything else.

That's good guys, safety first!

See, isn't that more entertaining (and informative) than saying he's a cute kid and they're going to ride some bikes?

Weeds Gets a 4th Season, Mary-Louise Parker Says She Wouldn't Hang with Her Character

Showtime just approved Weeds for a 4th season and this author could not be more thrilled. I don't get Showtime but as soon as those DVD's hit the video store, I snatch them up, grab an iced coffee and watch the whole season in one evening. The show is that good.

The lead is Nancy Botwin, (played by Mary-Louise Parker), a windowed suburban mom who has turned to dealing pot to fund the lifestyle she and her kids are accustomed too. “People are always asking me if being a mother informs the role which is ridiculous,” she said. “I mean, I hope not.” She considers Nancy “pretty shallow and not all that smart, but tough”. “I wouldn’t hang out with her,” she added. “She’s very volatile. She’s like a child reacting — you get her at a wrong moment and she won’t think, ‘Oh, well, maybe I shouldn’t do that’.”

Parker recently made headlines when she adopted a daughter from Africa, who is a sister to her 3 year old son Will.

The Weeds star was seen in Manhattan with her baby daughter who she recently adopted from Africa. Parker also has a son Will, 3, from a previous relationship with Billy Crudup. Who, as I can't seem to help mentioning, left Parker while she was pregnant to run off with Claire Danes. Mary-Louise seems to have let it go and I probably should, too.

Mary-Louise Parker came away empty-handed from last night's Emmy Awards but she had something better waiting for her at home. People Magazine is reporting that the Weeds actress has adopted a baby girl from Africa. Parker was seen with her new daughter over the weekend as they traveled to Los Angeles for the awards.

Parker also has a son Will, 3, with actor Billy Crudup who left Parker while she was pregnant to take up with actress Claire Danes. Danes is currently starring in the movie Stardust, which I recently saw and is awful. Just thought I'd throw that in.

Rumors surfaced last week that Mary-Kate, half of the ubiquitous Olsen twins, was pregnant. Now, Mary-Kate is proclaiming that she feels good, mentally and spiritually, so around here that's pretty much the equivalent of stumbling across her positive urine test from her OB. Although, let's face it - we suspect everyone is pregnant, unless you're male, over 80 or you've given birth within the last 24 hours.

Not to be cynical, but when celebrities get a little too enthusiastic about how good they feel, I tend to think they're hiding something. Sort of like walking into a crowded room and suddenly blurting out, "My armpits don't smell." Not that I've ever done that.

'Better Mom Than You' of the Week: Mary-Louise Parker Gets Gushy

Don't try and buy a dime bag off of Mary-Louise Parker. She may play a pot-dealing suburbanite on Weeds, but in real life she's a devoted mom to son William, 3. William's dad is actor Billy Crudup, who left Parker when she was pregnant to hook up with actress Claire Danes. This guy must know Tom Brady.

On her early days of motherhood Parker says, "I never went out, never went to the gym – I didn't want him to be picked up in the middle of the night by someone who was paid to pick him up."

Hey, stop judging me, Mary-Louise. So, I went out occasionally when my kids were babies - I never paid anyone. Like a good mother I kept them outside in the car where I could check on them between drinks.
