Hugh Laurie Dishes On Parenting From Across The Pond

After 5 seasons of House, Hugh Laurie is starting to wonder what kind of toll his career and his superstitions have taken on his kids.

“I worry about parenting at this sort of distance, but they are being so generous and so cool about it that - I mean, it might be because they’re English, and they won’t reveal their psychological damage until they’re in their late forties.”

For the first few years of filming, Hugh was convinced that the show would get cancelled so he neglected to move the family Stateside. Then, he decided that as soon as he did make the decision to bring the family, it would somehow jinx the show.

“I’m just convinced that the day we put down a deposit on a house is the day that we get cancelled. It’s just inevitable.”

“In fact, the first season I was in a hotel for the first three months because I was so convinced that we were going to be gone. I didn’t even unpack. I had a half-empty suitcase. I thought it was going to be any day now.”

“I have an apartment now and they visit and I go back when I can. If we get Thanksgiving off in November, I got four days to go back. I go when I can. There’s just a lot of flying.”

Hugh and his wife Jo have three kids: Charlie, 20, Bill, 18, and Rebecca, 15 -- all of whom have now survived years of Hugh living in LA part time. At least the pay is pretty good ($350K per episode).

Hugh Laurie Says "My Children are Perfect"

As a dad, House star Hugh Laurie keeps his family cards played pretty close to the vest, choosing to keep his private life private. He's married to wife Jo Green and together the couple have 3 children - Charles, 20, Bill, 18, and Rebecca Augusta, 15.

But Hugh, 49, talked proudly about his family to Parade magazine. "I'll tell you the one extreme pleasure I admit to - praising them," Hugh said. "My children are actually perfect."

And they're much different than Dad, too. The children are "well aware" of Dad's "peculiar ways, and they're happy they haven't picked up Hugh's "dreary outlook."

"My children put up with me," he said. "For them, I am a cautionary tale. They look at me and say, 'The hell with it. I'm not going to live that way.' Good for them."

Steven Curtis Chapman "Healing" from Death of Daughter

At Sunday night's Grammy awards, Christian singer Steven Curtis Chapman made his first red carpet appearance since the tragic death of his 5-year-old daughter Maria Sue in April.

Chapman, nominated for best pop/contemporary Gospel album, told People magazine that his family is "beginning to feel some healing taking place."

Walking the the carpet with son Will, 18, who was behind the wheel of the car that accidentally struck and killed Maria, Chapman said, "I think from both of our perspectives, we've kind of in a place where ... there's this hole in our heart and in our soul. That’s going to be there until we see Maria again.

"But we're able to, at least I am, to look at pictures and watch videos of her and it's not as suffocating as it was. It's not just where you can't even breathe. It's getting to where I can have sweet memories.

"There's a lot I can't explain, there's a lot we don't understand. But I really do believe we're proving out everything we believe and God's healing our hearts."

But despite the tragedy Chapman has had some reason to celebrate as well - daughter Emily was married in October, and oldest son Caleb is planning his upcoming nuptials at which Will will serve as best man. "It's going to be a small wedding and a big reception," the elder Chapman says. "They're really excited."

Matthew Fox is Getting Out of Town

I'm so excited for "Lost" to start up again, aren't you? It feels like it has been a long off season for the show.

In between filming episodes of "Lost" Matthew is concentrating on passing his love of cars to his son Byron. Matthew has always loved cars and was tickled pink that his son wanted to dress up as Racer X for Halloween last year.

That's funny, I love cars too! We have so much in common, it's a sign. *sigh*

I hope that he is passing on his love of cars to his daughter as well. I loved working on cars with my dad.

Matthew and his family are planning on moving to Oregon soon. He and his wife, Margherita want to raise their kids in the mountain air and be closer to his family.

They must be getting island fever by now.

David Boreanaz Says Son is All About the Cracker

"Bones" star David Boreanaz says that getting 6-year-old son Jaden Rayne interested in church was a simple task. Jaden was fascinated by the Communion wafer during Mass with his father a few years back. David says, "He wanted to go to Communion with me, and I said 'Well, you can come up but you can't have the Eucharist because you're not confirmed, you haven't had your first Communion.'"

This did not sit well with little Jaden. "So as he got closer and closer to the priest, giving them out, he had that look of, like, he really wanted the cracker. So on the way back after I got my cracker, he was in tears. And I said, 'Well one day you will go to Catholic School and study for your first communion and whatnot, and get your cracker.'"

Well, the crackers are in the works now. Jaden just started attending Catechism. Confirmation won't be far behind and then Jaden will no longer be shunned like the rest of the heathen.

Jaden is the first child for David and wife Jaime Bergman.

Now go watch "Bones." It's one of the best shows on TV. Go now, add it to your Season Pass on Tivo and don't say I never gave you anything.

Jack Black Takes On The Liliputins

Jack Black is a giant among men, or at least he will be among the Liliputins.

Jack Black will play Lemuel Gulliver, a traveler who finds himself on a secret island of people 1/6th the size of humans. The island of Liliput is hidden near Bermuda where Gulliver is on assignment.

Filming will begin in March, somewhere exotic I'm sure. Will you see the remake of Gullivers Travels? Do you think Jack Black will make a good giant? I do, I think he's silly enough to pull it off.

Matt Bryant Plays, Honors Son (Updated)

Matt Bryant lost his three-month-old son just days ago. The kicker for the Tampa Baby Buccaneers is suited, and presumably playing, in the game today.

That can't be easy, and as the network commentators have mentioned it really puts things in perspective.

I'm sure Bryant needed to do this. Coping and healing are crazy beasts.

Our thoughts go out to the whole Bryant family, and for today we're rooting for the Bucs.

Updated: Matt did play and had 3 field goals, one of which sealed the game, and 3 extra points. It was an emotional game.

Updated: I heard an interview with Matt after his game. It was on ESPN Radio and since I was driving I can't provide exact quotes, but basically he stated how unfair it was that his son was given such a short time to live and that he felt playing today was honoring his son.

Sad stuff.

Katey Sagal plays a mom on the FX series " Sons of Anarchy" and Peg Bundy she is not. She is playing Gemma, a tough talking mom with a fierce maternal instinct that her husband says she brings with her from real life.

Have you watched it, not me, the advertising for that show looks scary, that stuff really happens!!

She plays Gemma opposite her real life husband Kurt Sutter, and the couple says that Katey is a little more polite than Gemma but the essence of toughness is still there.

Katy has three children ranging in ages 14 to 19 months.

My favorite character of hers, is Leela.

Megan Fox is perhaps the most aptly named woman in America. Seriously, how could she be named anything but Megan?

Here are some tasty tidbits on the lovely Fox, apparently, according to GQ, when she was a teenager she had a lustful girl crush on a Russian stripper named Nikita- hey, who didn't?

Megan basically stalked the dancer, bearing gifts and getting lap dances, which sounds like something I went through when I was in my early 20's (see also mid and late 20's). Which reminds me, I think that restraining order may have expired!

Megan insists that she isn't a lesbian, not that there is anything wrong with that, but admits, "I just think that all humans are born with the ability to be attracted to both sexes. I mean, I could see myself in a relationship with a girl — Olivia Wilde is so sexy she makes me want to strangle a mountain ox with my bare hands. She's mesmerizing. And lately I've been obsessed with Jenna Jameson, but ... oh boy."

Indeed.

Nowadays Megan is as good as married to Brian Austin Green, or as I like to call him "BAG." The two are a regular Ozzie and Harriet which makes Fox the pseudo stepmom to Ricky Nelson, played by Kassius Lijah.

"Bones" actor David Boreanaz was recently watching "Rocky III" with his son Jaden, 6. The 39-year-old's son said, "Dad, watch me!" and then started shadow boxing and doing physical training exercises.

"I laughed so hard," said Boreanaz, "because here's this 6-year-old trying to do push-ups and the punching bag. He's so intense."

David and his wife, 32-year-old actress Jaime Bergman, have been married for 7 years. "Bones," one of my favorite shows, starts up again on FOX this Wednesday night with a 2-hour season premiere! In England!

Kelsey Grammer, 53-year-old star of "Frasier" and the more recent "Back to You," and his wife were seen at the U.S. Open yesterday. Grammer and wife, Camille, are the parents of daughter Mason (7) and son Jude (who just turned 4).

When Camille went to the ladies room, Kelsey went and visited with Queen Aretha Franklin and they had a nice little chat while Kelsey kind of respected Aretha's boobs. What is it with men and boobs, anyway? I'm a dude and I have no clue.

Morgan Freeman has had a rough week. First he had an auto accident (he is currently listed in fair condition) that must have scared the beejezus out of his family and now just a few days later the 71-year-old actor is getting divorced.

That must be a weird thing for his kids and grandchildren- that emotional roller coaster. It really throws Christmas for a loop.

Freeman and Myrna Colley-Lee have been married 24 years. TWENTY-FOUR YEARS!

Morgan Freeman 'In Good Spirits'

Just to follow up on our beloved Morgan Freeman, he is 'in good spirits' as he awaits surgery following a near-fatal car accident that resulted in him being removed from the wrecked car with the jaws of life and transported to hospital.

"He has a broken arm, broken elbow and minor shoulder damage but he is in good spirits," said Donna Lee. "He is going to have surgery this afternoon or tomorrow to correct the damage. He says he'll be okay and is looking forward to a full recovery."

We wish him well. I'm sure with 10 grandkids, he is surrounded by loving family.

Morgan Freeman in Critical Condition

Morgan Freeman was in a car crash in Memphis that has left the star in critical condition. There was a female passenger in the car that was also taken to the hospital.

Authorities believe that Freeman may have fallen asleep at the wheel. They say that is car flipped several times.

Morgan Freeman's kids are all grown now and after 30 minutes on Google and Wikipedia I still can't tell you whether or not he has grandchildren [added- he has 10], so perhaps his story isn't easily justified to the pages of FameCrawler, but still, he's Morgan Freeman and who doesn't care about him?

Freeman may not think fondly on his time as an actor on "The Electric Company," but I do. He's gone on to bigger and better things, but he did his part in shaping my childhood, and for that I am grateful.

Best of luck to Mr. Freeman and his passenger.

Matthew (is a) Fox is now a doll, figuratively and literally. No one is more excited than his son, except me. I've always wanted to put him in my pocket and take him home, and now I can- and have.

At first glance, his son didn't recognize his father in full costume, but now plans on being Racer X for Halloween and possibly every Halloween from here on out.

Says Fox, "He's so into it. I'm pretty cool in his eyes right now which is pretty great."

Matthew, you're great in my eyes, too. Call me.

The celebrity baby boom is out of control! Bottle that Hollywood water because there's baby making powers in it, seriously. A popular TV actress is pregnant - any guesses? Hint: She's past the age of 24.

Fox's hit series 24 Marisol Nichols, who plays Special Agent Nadia Yasser is preggo with baby # 1 - a daughter. She and husband, director Taron Lexton met last year on a cruise and were married on April 13.

Marisol told E! news about baby names, "I'll know which one to call her when I meet her."

Baby is due in late October. Congrats!
