Alec Baldwin, who joked that he might expand his family by “getting a Filipino mail-order bride ..." is apologizing to the people of the Philippines for the remark that was made during an appearance on The Late Show. So how do you apologize to an entire country? Why, by taking to your blog of course.
Baldwin, who apparently was threatened with physical violence after he made the quip that Philippine officials felt mocked their country's problems with sex trafficking, issued this apology on his blog on The Huffington Post:
“I’d like to offer an apology and a clarification to remarks I made recently. While on the David Letterman program, I joked that I might need a ‘mail-order bride’ to achieve the goal of having more children in my life. I believe that most people understood that this was a joke and took it as such. (A dated reference, no doubt, and another sign of my advancing age.) However, I do apologize to anyone who took offense.”
The 30 Rock actor famously apologized in 2007 for a profanity-laced tirade that he unleashed on his then-11-year-old daughter Ireland. I'm a big fan of Baldwin's, but it looks like if he wants to avoid any future bad publicity he should probably steer clear of making any comments that have anything whatsoever to do with his kids or his family.
