Jill Hennessy - I Can't Relate To You

Posted by trix

How much time did you take off for your maternity leave? I took off 2 weeks before and then 10 weeks after my second baby was born. I could have stayed home forever.

Jill Hennessy says that a short maternity leave was best for her. She started filming Lymelife when her son Gianni was 11 weeks old. She said she couldn't pass up the opportunity to play the part of this woman.

Isn't that about the time you go back to work anyway?

She said, “I recognized this character. Everyone feels like, if I were a better wife or woman, my husband would love me, my kids would love me more. She comes full circle and makes a very bold choice.”

“I think it helped me get through that time, in retrospect. It got me outside, stopped me from focusing on the sheer lack of sleep and the daunting situation of having two kids. It forced me to delegate. I highly recommend it.”

I can't relate, my job made me more exhausted than I already was. It made me hate and resent my employer. Thank goodness I quit that job or I'd be more bitter than I already am.

Did you want to jump back into work or did it break your heart to leave your baby at home?

I can't relate. We get 50 weeks and I took even longer than that. There is no way I'd willingly leave my 11 week old. That would have been heartbreaking (for me - I respect others choices).
