Kate Hudson is mom to son Ryder Russell, now five, and she said she's just like her parents - Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell. She says she had an old-fashioned childhood and that's how she's raising Ryder.
The Bride Wars star says she will not give her son everything he asks for, and admits she's strict.
"My parents were so strict! [They refused to buy me] everything.
"All of us [kids] had to pay for our first car, and you know... I'm the same way. I'm probably a little more lenient with Ryder because my parents were so strict.
"Everybody's struggles are different. But when it comes to how you raise your children, I think those values are pretty standard."
And in an interview with Metro.com, Kate said:
"My parents were very tough and there’s something to be said for that. My parents were really hard on me and yet they are my favourite people in the world and we have the greatest relationship. That’s how I’d like to raise my child. You love them but you have to put your foot down."
Kate parents Ryder with her ex-husband, The Black Crowes frontman, Chris Robinson, who remain friends. It's great they can have a good relationship even after divorce for the sake of their son.
