Are
rumors about a Reese Witherspoon - Jake Gyllenhaal wedding justified? You can bet that the power couple is feeling the pressure.
Reese has a pretty full plate with her upcoming roll as a pro-softball player and two kids -- Ava Elizabeth, 9, and Deacon Reese, 5 -- and she's made it know that she isn't going to hurry into anything following her divorce with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe. But that won't stop friends and the blogosphere from speculating:
“Reese’s best friend, Heather Whitney [co-owner of the LA clothing store Poppy], just got engaged,” a source tells Life & Style
magazine. “She’s got Reese thinking! People around her have been
speculating that she and Jake are getting closer and closer to the
altar, and Heather’s engagement only puts that much more pressure on
them. At least they’re discussing [marriage]. Close friends shrug and
say ‘I don’t know anything’ when you can tell they know something.
Everyone in their circle is talking about it. It’s like any other
relationship — the marriage issue has finally caught up with them.”
Perhaps even more significant is the fact that Jake has already proposed -- almost two years ago. Sure, Reese wasn't ready then, but Jake made his intentions pretty clear.
As it goes with most long-term couples, as time passes, the pressure continuously ratchets up. Some reports have them already engaged. We'll see.
