For one of tennis' all-time greats, you wouldn't thing that coming up with a baby name would be the greatest challenge you've ever faced -- just name it Roger II. But for Federer and wife Mirka Vavrinec, coming up with a handle for their upcoming baby is proving as difficult as beating Rafael Nadal in a major tournament.
“You know, we’ll see,” he mused. “There’s quite a few books around that are that thick, so we’ll see where it takes us. But, no, we haven’t decided anything yet. I have no clue right now myself. Thank God we have time left to decide.”
It's funny how some people know exactly what they're going to name their kids years in advance and some people consult "thick" books and can't decide until the last possible second. Will Roger and Mirka be that kind of parents that call the baby "baby" for the first few months? Surely not.
After dating for almost 9 years, Roger and Mirka got married on April 11th -- shortly after learning that Mirka was pregnant. Their baby is due sometime this summer, giving them a little time to mull over the options.
No word yet as to whether it's a boy or girl. I imagine that would help narrow down the name search, maybe. Unless Roger and Mirka are bent on breaking down traditional gender roles, or something hippie-dippie like that.
