Parents Square Off Against The New Burger King Video Featuring SpongeBob and Sir Mix A Lot

Posted by Josh loposer

Burger King Guy measures girls' square butts

What do SponeBob, Sir Mix-a-lot and the Burger King guy have in common? They're all in a nearly incoherent commercial that pissing of all sorts of parenting groups. (video after the break)

How can you possibly go wrong when you manage to fit three of greatest cultural icons of the last 100 years into a 30 second commercial?

Well, aside from the fact that the spot makes almost no sense at all -- except at the end where it shills 99 cent SpongeBob Kid's Meals -- watchdog groups like the Campaign for a Commercial Free Childhood (CCFC) are angry that BK is "sexualizing" SpongeBob. They accuse the commercial of using sex to sell grease burgers to kids.

People who like things to make sense are complaining that the spot is like a bad acid trip where you don't learn anything and end up with an annoying 90s dance hit stuck in your head.

Feminists are complaining that the ad promotes the objectification of women, especially the part where the Burger King guy actually measures ladies' square butts.

The only one who's not complaining is Sir Mix-a-lot, who's probably glad to grab a fat paycheck.

I've never seen this commercial being played outside of Adult Swim, which children shouldn't be watching anyway.

The women bent over with their backsides in the camera is classic porn.  Burger King has been pushing the Porn sells burgers angle for some time.  Real men eat meat, watch cartoons and jerk off to porn.

I think it's funny.Tasteless, yes, but funny.  And if anyone watches Sponge Bob then you know a lot of the contents have some adult undertones anyway. Not to say that my daughter doesn't watch it. HEck, I watch it with her sometimes. Unfortunetly kids are going to see this kind of stuff. America is too far gone with the sexuality in the media and "freedom of speech/expression". Our only choice is to police the world and that's not really an option.

Yes, just what we all want to teach preschoolers, to be flaunting and staring at butts.  If we want to teach girls to dance like strippers and boys to be perverts, we need to start young - like pre-k.  And all thanks to Burger King and Nickelodeon for their sexualization of preschoolers.

Let me say first I'm no prude and I have been known to get funky to some Baby Got Back:) But this commercial pisses me off!!!! We don't even have cable and we see it every time the tv goes on.  At least my preteen son finds it confusing and weird so we must be doing something right.  The King won't be getting any "rich-a" with our money!

I was shocked when this came on with my four-year-old in the room. We were not watching Adult Swim. In fact, it was on at 10:30 am during the Rachael Ray Show. My son noticed Sponge Bob right away and started watching while I was dumbfounded that Burger King would market their products to kids in such a manner. Unless this ad is taken off the air, I will not go to a Burger King and give them my money.

Get a sense of humor. This is funny. I am a mother of a twelve year old and a two year old and i have no problem what so ever letting them see it. The only content in it that remotely suggests any sexual content is booty, and square butts. Whoopie do. Go to the local video store, game stop, department store or even grocery store there is alot worse content right on the shelves. Stop being such a square and like i said get a sense of humor.

So if your daughter starts shoving her ass in boys faces or your son starts groping ass - you're OK with that?  You may think teaching your children this behaviour is "no problem" but I would never want my children picking up this behaviour or getting any message from me other than it's despicable.

I was absolutely floored when I saw this commercial..and it was for kid meals..I just could not believe it. I thought the world must be alot worse than I thought for them to think this commercial was good for Kids. I'm glad so many parents are outraged by the thing.. No more Burger King for me or my kids. I hope they pull it off the air, or their tasty burgers will be no more for the neighborhood quick stop to pick up a burger.

Well the thing that makes me confused is that its for a farging kids meal but yet they said it only plays on adult shows.. Why in the world would adults eat kid meals.

I just want so say I am an young mother (21) and I watch things that aren't appropriate for my child a lot. But I wouldn't dare watch them in front on him. And I didn't not see this Commercial during Adult Swim I seen Saturday morning  during Cartoons and the Cartoon Network. I am appalled that my three year old who loves sponge bob now things its Funny to stick his butt out and dance..IT IS AWFUL. And the worst part is its used to sell kids meals. I will never go back to Burger King and I hope that other parents wont either!

Just play the commercial in slow-motion if you're not sure its porn.  Watching the creepy "King" holding his hands up to the ass of a pre-teen is pretty disgusting for a major "family" type corporation.
