Three weeks after Chris Brown reportedly beat the crap out of the Rihanna, the couple is said to have reunited and are currently holed up in Sean "Diddy" Combs' house on Star Island near Miami. Next to finding out that Nick Mitchell got voted off American Idol, this is the worth news I've heard all week.
“They’re together again. They care for each other,” a source tells People magazine about Rihanna and Brown's reconciliation. “While Chris is reflective and saddened about what happened, he is really happy to be with the woman he loves.”
“He called to wish her happy birthday,” the source continued. “They’ve reached out to each other. It’s been mutual.”
According to US Magazine, Brown was seen smiling and flexing his muscles as he rode a jet ski around the island. (The part about "flexing his muscles"? Really makes me sick.)
Even more surprising is the fact that Rihanna's father, Ronald Fenty, supports his daughter's decision to take the batterer back. “I love my daughter with whatever road she takes. I'm behind her win or lose. I will be supportive. If that's the road she wants to choose, I'm behind her. I hope to see her soon. I talked to her after her birthday, and she told me she's OK."
Um, seriously?
I get it, she's an adult and can do whatever she wants. But as a parent, I think to come out publicly and say that you support your daughter's decision to continue in a relationship with someone who is abusive is unfathomable. Doesn't Fenty fear for her safety?
Let's hope Rihanna's got a bodyguard or two hovering around in case Brown has one of his temper tantrums again. And if the rumor is true that Rihanna's pregnant, let's hope she's also considering the safety of her unborn child.
