Kate Hudson says that Kingston Rossdale isn't the only teeny ski fanatic out there. Her 4-1/2-year-old son Ryder Russell learned to ski last year and he's been sliding down the slopes ever since. Last year for Christmas, Kate dropped off Ryder for a ski lesson, then came back to the Bunny Hill to watch his newfound skills. But, what? Ryder wasn't around.
"I started panicking a little bit," Kate says, "because I couldn't see him anywhere, and the instructor came over and said, 'Oh, actually, he’s up on the mountain.' I'm standing there in my skis and I'm looking up and all of a sudden I see this little kid in camouflage and I'm like, 'No!' He is just zooming down the mountain and I started to cry."

Amazing that such a young kid can zoom down mountains like that. "I grew up skiing, and then you see your kids ski and there’s a freedom in it that you recognize in them," Kate, 29, explains. "A confidence that kids start to get when they do things like that. It was a big little moment."
But Kate and ex-husband Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes are taking care of their little daredevil. "The helmet is on. I'm going to put those rubber things on the bottom of his skis so that he doesn't go too fast!"
With record cold temps this season already, it's no wonder that Ryder and Kate will be hitting the slopes again this holiday season. Kate has a new movie coming out next month called "Bride Wars," which costars Anne Hathaway and Candice Bergen.
