Kirk Cameron, the actor who starred in the popular sitcom "Growing Pains," had a dilemma while filming his latest movie 'Fireproof": He had to kiss the actress who was playing his wife. The problem? Cameron will not kiss any woman who is not his wife. In an interview with the Today show he says, "I have a commitment not to kiss any other woman."
The filmmakers went to great lengths to work around this by dressing his wife, actress Chelsea Noble, as his wife in the film and then shooting all their scenes in silhouette. “So when I’m kissing my wife, we’re actually husband and wife honoring marriage behind the scenes,” Cameron says.
Okay, when I first read that, I thought to myself, "That's weird!" and then I tore all of my Kirk Cameron posters down from the wall.
Then I read his explanation. “The reason this movie was important to me personally is because I love my wife dearly,” he said. “We’ve been married for 17 years … and we have six children. So marriage is a very special and sacred thing to us. In a day and age where marriage is falling apart, we want to make movies and projects that really uphold and have a high view of that which is beautiful and wonderful in our culture.”
Then I thought, "That's so romantic!" and then I taped all of his posters back up.
Cameron and Noble, who played his girlfriend on "Growing Pains," have six children together including four who are adopted. Cameron, a former atheist, became an evangelical Christian at the age of 17 while he was starring in "Growing Pains" and says he often clashed with the producers over what he felt were immoral story lines. I guess that means he won't be doing any guest roles on the "The Hills."
If this guy's for real he sounds real sweet, but I'm just wondering what he's doing in Hollywood.
