Remember when Alec Baldwin called his own daughter a pig? Who knew it was tough love? Apparently Baldwin thinks all of our kids are fat and the culprit is cheese. Yes, cheese. WTF?
You mean this whole time that I've been giving my kids string cheese instead of candy crack I've actually been part of the problem? Next thing you know I won't be allowed to pair it with a nice wine. That's just bullshit.
Says Alec in a letter to Hillary Clinton urging her to vote 'No' on a bill that would provide billions of dollars in subsidies to farmers:
"As you are well aware, the epidemic of childhood
obesity is worsening day by day, leading to higher risks of diabetes,
heart disease and several forms of cancer. I know that you share my
concern about this crucial issue."
"As a parent, I see firsthand the challenges of
keeping children focused on healthful foods. These challenges are made
all the more difficult by federal policies that keep high-cholesterol,
high-sugar foods all too plentiful in schools. ... There has never been
a more urgent time to take action."
I understand where Baldwin is coming from, really I do. Obesity is a huge problem (no pun intended, but I'll take it). I just don't know that Baldwin's cry to the left to cut support of American farmers is the right way to fight it. Why not boycott M&M's (not the peanuts, those are healthy) or take federal funding away from carnies. Carnies get federal funding, right? Cotton candy and funnel cakes have got to be a bigger problem than cheese. I hope.
