  • Droolworthy: Ripple Shower Timers Save Your Sanity

    Ripple Digital Shower Timers

If your kids aren't old enough to shower on their own, yet, mark my words: The day will come when you find yourself bemoaning your water bill. Kids left to shower without supervision (I'm talking about ones old enough to know better, y'all) are prone to spacing out and answering your half-hour-later call with "I'm just about to shampoo!"

And then your head will explode and you will die, but it saves you from the coronary the water bill might've caused.

Get yourself a handy little Ripple shower timer, though ($16.26 for various designs on the company website), and stroke out no more. It's waterproof, steamproof, and dawdle-proof. Set it and let your kids race the clock. They'll think it's a game, you'll think it's genius.

  • Gadget: Digital Baby Care Tracker

The Itzbeen Baby Care Timer $24.99 helps sleep-deprived parents remember the basic baby tasks: last time they changed a diaper, fed the baby, how long the baby’s been awake or asleep + a bonus timer to be used to time anything you want, like the last time you gave the baby medication. It has a night-light to help find things in the dark + for nursing moms, there’s a left-right switch, so they don’t have to mark their bra with a safety pin or sticker anymore.  It’s got a belt clip on the back + a backlight illuminates the display at night."

  • DaysAgo Day Counter Times Food in Fridge

Here's a neat little invention that will time anything, but is being touted to parents in particular for use on baby's food: The DaysAgo Digital Day Counter is a round little timer with your choice of either a magnet or a suction cup on the back. Stick one on top of that jar of strained carrots before you toss it in the fridge, and when you find it hiding behind the orange juice later in the week there will be no guessing about how long it's been there.

If you can't keep track of these things and don't have a single Sharpie in the house (I used to just write the date on the label, but I'm a Luddite), two-packs of the DaysAgo timers can be had for $10 apiece.
