This makes me think back fondly to the days when playing dress-up had zero to do with the pre-packaged trappings of Disney's Princess du Jour. The print (which comes signed and dated) takes it back to the old-school with Sunday Best dresses and play "pearls" and heels on loan from mom, aunties and grannies. It's delicate, demure and delightful — a piece that's girly without activating my usual girly gag reflex.
$20, Sarah Jane Studios.
The whole family just visited Giant Robot's Biennale exhibit here in L.A. (if you're in the area, it's a must for little art lovers). One of our favorite featured artists was husband-and-wife design team, APAK. Much to our delight, the Portland-based artists sell their prints on Etsy.com. Their series of animal prints — while a bit of a departure from the Asian-influenced work featured at the exhibit — make great bed/playroom art.
