Recall: Eddie Bauer Soothe & Sway Play Yard

Posted by AmandaHill

I will always give props to the play yard that kept my daughter busy when I needed to do the dishes or shower. However, the ever popular Eddie Bauer Play Yard has been recalled.  The Soothe and Sway model that was sold prior to December 1, 2008 is the model in question.  The problem seems to be the bassinet attached to the top of the play yard.  Apparently, the bassinet portion has been tipping excessively which then causes the infant to roll on his or her side and cause a possible choking hazard.

If you are using this play yard, immediately remove the bassinet portion. The model number and date code is in a 6 digit form YY/MM/DD form on the bottom.

I've noticed when using this product that the diaper change leans to one side making it difficult to change my child. Then I found out their was a recall on it. When I looked into it, they told me they wanted me to cut up the upper bed part and send it to them for $42 dollars. That's ridiculous. So I purchased a multi-functional product and I can only use 1 out of 3 functions and they won't reimburse me so that I can buy another one that has all the parts functioning. Give me a break. I can believe they aren't even  going to try and fix it for me. Now I'm left with a useless piece. Not to mention this is my child's only bed because we can't afford a crib and I had a c-section so I can't lift her out of the bottom part yet. I bought it because of the upper bed part. I'm very disappointed in this company.

I'm also incredibly disappointed in the way this is being handled.  Like Jacqueline, we bought this product because it had a bassinet.  Instead of trying to correct the problem, they want you to destroy the bassinet.  Furthermore, you have buy $40 worth of products and submit the receipts to them along with the fabric from the bassinet before they will send you your rebate cheque.  Forty dollars won't buy a bassinet.  What a joke.  All this does is encourage people to continue using the bassinet as is and hope nothing happens.
