Spit Up: Baby Girl Toupees

Posted by Lisa Mulcahy

There are too many things wrong with this that I don’t know where to start. Since when did it become unfashionable for baby girls to be bald? A hair+band accessory, Baby Bangs, $29.95 is basically a toupee. As much as I hate headbands in general on babies, this is even more ridiculous. They come customized to fit your baby in a variety of different styles and hair colors.

Talk about a lesson in self-consciousness? And don’t you think it would be weird if someone met your baby one day and she had hair and the next day she wasn’t wearing her Baby Bangs?

Here's the before picture of this poor child. I think she looks beautiful the way she is.

What's the big deal...I think everyone is taking this a bit too far, I thinks it's a great new product and I think it would be great for family photos, occassions, beauty pagents, etc. It's 2009!!!! I mean get over it! I think it's a great idea BabyBangs!

Sounds like the person sticking up for it might have a hand in the company hrrrmm...

Beauty pageants are gross as it is, probably not the best thing to use in defense lmao. Way to start the self hatred young!

I think you'd be hard-pressed to keep this on a baby...

Yeah, come on, people, it's 2009!!!!  A year in which creepy baby beauty contests are totally cool.  And why should poor little bald girls have to rely on what nature gave them?  Thank you, BabyBangs, for making child exploitation more accessible for all babies.  Now I won't be so embarrassed of my ugly child when signing her up!  Woohoo!

LOL @ these comments.  I don't think a wig is all that bad by itself.  But I agree that it's pretty messed up that parents feel the "need" to put wigs on babies...and put them in "beauty" pageants, all for the parent's own vanity.  I guess, it's almost like having your own real-life Barbie!

But after wigs, what's next, folks?  Baby thongs?  Baby breast implants?  Because....what fun for you?!? :(

What a good idea! Bald baby girls are gross! They look like little boys lol. I'm going to put baby bangs on my little girl while she's wearing her Heelarious first high heels. Now someone just needs to invent a self-tanning lotion for babies. My baby is so pale you can see her veins through her skin. Ick! I tried putting her out in the sun for a few hours, but she just got red and peely, not attractive.
