First Look: Salma Hayek Helps Pampers Launch Vaccine Campaign

Posted by Nicole Feliciano

Though she’s been in the press lately talking about breastfeeding, Salma Hayek is also hard at work trying to stamp out Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus (MNT).

Last week in NYC, Salma teamed up with Pampers and UNICEF to announce the second wave of the "One Pack = One Vaccine" campaign. Here's how it works: for every purchase of specially marked diaper packages, Pampers will fund one tetanus vaccine.

Salma, the campaign spokeswoman, shared her first-hand look at MNT--a disease that claims the lives of 128,00 infants and 30,000 mothers each year--with video clips and press interviews about her UNICEF trip to Sierra Leone. Diva-like behavior is the last thing you’ll get from Salma.  The stunning actress believes in rolling up her sleeves (ok, and maybe her shirt too) and hitting the front lines.

For 2009, the goal is to raise enough funding for 30 million additional tetanus vaccines.  Look for the Pampers/UNICEF logo in stores now.
