In the Nusery: Bumpaire, a New Kind of Bumper

Posted by Erin Behan

Oh bumpers, the cornerstone of any smart nursery sheeting set, but the source of much consternation for parents (are they safe? are they not? when to discontinue use?--full disclosure I have one). Responding to the debate is Lidy Mac, a company that has created a bumper with innovations in the both the tying system and the area where the bumper meets the mattress. Their answer to the bumper, the Bumpaire, ties in the middle back of the bumper, meaning no strings will ever dangle to entice baby. It also has vents at the bottom to eliminate the possibility that carbon monoxide might gather (although that fear sounds a little extreme to me). Of course, innovation comes at a high price, in this case my favorite style, the Montecito in blue, part of the Classique collection starts at $435 (photo below). Shop all the styles.
