I'm of the less is more school of thought when it comes to buying children's items, which allows me to justify little splurges, like these adorable see-through placemats from Modern-twist ($17 at Lavish). I'm especially fond of Kat in the City, but the owl and monster aren't too shabby, either. The Modern-twist line is headed by Kat Nouri in San Francisco and she, alongside her designers, turns out some beautiful pieces that never forget to be fun.
