Check Your Head: Tail Wags Helmet Covers

Posted by Aaron Burgess

No one's questioning the importance of kids' wearing helmets while bicycling, skateboarding, snowboarding or doing anything else that might endanger their precious noggins -- although if not for pictures like this one, we'd probably be questioning the need to slap a soft, fuzzy cover on said helmets.

While you may not need to deck out your kid's helmet as a turtle, beaver, lion or green dinosaur, Tail Wags Helmet Covers are so doggone cute that kids may actually start donning their safety gear without a fight. That the covers (which even our old friend Elmo endorsed this spring) add extra warmth to kids' heads during the aforementioned activities is a nice bonus, even if it's the last thing those of us in hotter climes may be wanting this time of year.

Running $40 each, Tail Wags have been well-distributed in their creator's home base of Canada until now, but they've also started spreading into the U.S., Europe and Australia: Visit the company's site for a full list of retailers, or if you place an order online, you can enter the coupon code "Babble" at checkout for a 10% discount.

While there is no denying the cute factor, I received these wonderful helmet covers as a gift and, magically, my children wanted to wear their bike and ski helmets!

I am buying them for Christmas presents for the all kids, big and small, in my family!

My 2.5 year old son adores his froggy Tail-Wag helmet cover (and the older kids on the street think he's the coolest toddler in town)! He is setting a great precident for his younger brother and it has become habit for him to put his froggy on before hopping on his bike.

Thanks, Tail-Wags, for a fantastic product!

I'm so glad this product came along.  Now my kids put their helmuts on willingly.

I also love the fact it's made right here in Canada.  Great workmanship and fantastic styles.  My kids really love their piggie and horse.

I already have requests for Christmas gifts.
