How My Daughter Got a Mullet or Now That's a Cute Pair of Scissors!

Posted by SunnyChanel

As a parent, nearly every day I think to myself, “Yeah, I really should have been paying more attention...” Case in point, this evening my darling long-flaxen-haired daughter was sitting in the kitchen using her brand new scissors to cut shapes out of construction paper. She loves to slice, chop and create and had just this week graduated from a tiny plastic pair to a set of kid friendly safety scissors. My husband was with her but had his back turned while rinsing our dinner dishes. What do I hear a couple minutes later but “Your mom is going to be so maaaaaad…”. Why? Well, because she chopped off half her hair. My daughter now has her very own mullet, albeit, a very hipster “I read Vice and started my own band” sort of way. So if you ARE to trust your toddlers with a pair of scissors make sure to keep an eagle eye on them and while you are at, at least make the pair you get them be cute like these Wild One Stripes Scissors for $4.95 from ShopScissors.com (yes, they ONLY carry scissors!).

And that is exactly how I ended up with a really terrible bowl cut at age 6.  Please don't do that to your daughter!  Give her something funky and fun while her hair grows back out!
