A Long Lost Friend: The Fisher Price Chatter Phone

Posted by SunnyChanel

I do a lot of online shopping; you try browsing through Target with a two year old. Doing all your “trading” on the computer during naptime is a pretty sweet and stressless alternative. While flipping through sites filled with kiddy goodies as I am wont to do, I spied a toy that brought back a flood of memories, it was none other than my old beloved Fisher Price Chatter Phone. I squealed with delight. Yes, I squealed. The toy, which was introduced in 1962, “was designed with a rotary dial to teach children how to dial a phone”. Excited, I hit Add To Cart, when my husband, who seems to have a sixth sense to when I am about to go on a online shopping spree, pointed out that in our house of cell phones and slim touch tone handsets, she won’t have a clue to what this dialed contraption with the odd handset is. I don’t care that she might just think it’s a creature akin to a Mike Wazowski. I’m gonna get all old school on her and introduce her to my old toy chest. Yes, what’s old is new yet again. $15.

I bought this for my twins for xmas. It came bundled with the old FP xylophone that I'd been searching for for 2 years. My boys love them both. I also bought them at Target and it was branded with Mr. Magoriums packaging...to bring back some of the classic toys. LOVE THEM. The only noticeable update is the very short pull strings, thanks to modern rules about choking hazards and childrens toys.

I  just bought my daughter one the other day too. I found it at walgreen's of all places. I am real excited that they are bringing back classic non battery operated toys.
