Is That Bacon in Your Hair, or Are You Just Happy to See Me?

Posted by Aaron Burgess

Don't be alarmed -- it's just your food staring back at you. Developed by a pair of dads who've drawn from their advertising and design careers to launch a side venture into kids' goodies, Playful Trayfuls give picky eaters the perfect outlet for playing with their food, as well as a great excuse to eat the creations afterward. Build silly faces out of healthy treats, and delight as the kiddoes play cannibal -- hey, no one said encouraging smart eating had to be pretty.

The trays, which come in his (green; pictured above) and hers (blue, below) designs, as well as a "sibling" set, are made from the same durable, dishwasher- and microwave-safe food-grade plastic that goes into many lunchroom trays. They're also large and heavy enough to sit sturdily atop your dinner table, even if they may be a bit too large for that Ikea high chair you're rocking.

Grab one for $16.95 or a pair for just under $30 at Playware Products.

That hers model looks like a pain to clean, especially if you put mac and cheese in her hair. My daughter puts mac and cheese in her hair on a regular basis - why would I pay to double my trouble?
