7 Days of Eco-Friendly Clothing: Patagonia Capilene 1 Onesie

Posted by Aaron Burgess

What's odor-repellent, hot-weather-friendly, and made from used soda bottles? No, it's not some new backyard composter; it's this onesie from Patagonia, and despite being derived from a 100% recycled-polyester mix of old soda bottles and fabric scraps, its Capilene 1 fabric is designed to feel silky against baby's skin while wicking moisture away from folds and crevices.

While nothing can mask the smell of a freshly filled diaper, the onesie is also loaded with Patagonia's environmentally friendly Gladiodor odor control, which uses amino-acid chains (as opposed to silver ions -- more about the questionable effects of those here) to kill odor-causing bacteria.

Available in Sailboat Blue (pictured) or Powder Pink, the Capilene 1 onesie is $32 from Patagonia -- and while you're there, spend some time reading about the company's overall environmental philosophy. These onesies aren't just recycled; they're also recyclable.

For such a "progressive" company, why only blue and pink?
