Spit Up: Maclaren, Bugaboo T-Shirts

Posted by Erin Behan

I actually like some of the preppy-bling tees and clothing at Sir Hayes, but I cannot abide these stroller T-shirts (above, Bugaboo; below, Maclaren; both $38 at Sir Hayes), even though I know they are supposed to be funny. Maybe it's because I feel like my Brooklyn neighborhood is a daily stroller parade (and I don't even live in Park Slope!) and committment to one's children is measured by one's stroller. In other words, these hit a little too close to home. Anybody else hating on these?

I agree! Heaven knows I love and can appreciate a sweet stroller but those shirts seem like the equivalent of wearing a humongous zironia studded mercedes benz necklace around your neck. A little tacky.

i think these shirts are extremely tacky.  and i have a bugaboo... but i think advertising a brand name like that on a shirt (for free no less!) is soooo... what am i trying to say... ?  something a guy that drives a hummer would dress his kid in?

I actually dress my kid in the maclaren shirt all the time, and people love it... I mean, the humor is that it's what would be worn by someone who drives a hummer.

They make me think of that episode of Friends where Joey dresses in head-to-toe Porsche-wear and then spends hours standing beside a parked Porsche.

Maybe a tee for sling passengers is in order?

"All you stroller folks is suckas / I ride in a sling, muthafuckas."

Maybe not.
