"Elmo Live" Doll Announced

Elmo smells a Christmastime three-peat! Fisher-Price announced today a new Elmo doll that they promise will be the "most engaging and entertaining Elmo product ever." Apparently Elmo Live will move his mouth like the muppet, tell jokes, sit, stand, and even cross his legs. But it won't be available until October 14, 2008 - just in time for you to scramble to get one for the holidays.

This past Christmas, my in-laws gave my almost-three-year-old one of those Grand Mal Seizure Elmo dolls that are all the rage. Someone pressed Elmo's foot or stomach or whatever appendage it is that sets him off, and he started flailing all over the place.

My son watched the spectacle from a distance for about 30 seconds, then proclaimed, "I don't like that guy." One of the proudest moments of my parenting life.
