Inappropriate Banks "R" Us

Posted by Aaron Burgess

More astute commenters than I have already pointed out the Bankabank's similarity to a certain, er, grown-up depository; but the soft-PVC piggy-bank replacement, aimed at ages 3 and up, is nonetheless a pretty handy and modern-looking place for kids to start socking away their change. Bills go through the top slot; change goes in the front; and the plug pops out for easy access. (Sorry, couldn't resist.) $12 at ModernTots.

If you really want to traumatize your kids into learning money management, the Banpresto Facebank ($29; above) is sure to give you both nightmares. The brainchild of Japanese designer Takada, this interactive bank literally eats the change you hand-feed it -- up to 30 quarters in all. (Link, image via Uncrate.) Enjoy the video below -- paku-paku!
