Tummy Tub: Dunk Baby Like a Deep Fried Turkey

Posted by Karen

Within days of my first son's birth, I was left alone to bathe him and the task was terrifying to me.  I filled his baby tub with warm water, bathed him throroughly, and my heart raced the entire time.  The little fart pooped in the tub and I had to repeat the bath again, so my fear lasted that much longer.

The Tummy Tub is supposed to ease the transition from womb to bath, and make newborn babies feel comfortable.

New parents are nervous enough, and I certainly don't see how holding our children by the neck to bathe them would ease OUR transition.  Besides, throwing nearly 50 bucks at a tub that baby will quickly grow out of?  File this one under Not Necessary.

Oh my ... the tummy tub has been my best baby purchase. My almost 3 yr old still insists on using it (she fits) and baby #2 can now sit up in it by himself at 4 months - sweet. I have used it for soaking laundry (easy to carry) and storing towels during a shower phase with the toddler. Best of al, it does not look like baby gear and I will keep it for a long time as just a great bucket. However just a bucket would have nasty seams (hard on baby skin) and not so darn stable. We think that it is great!
