yes, I have 3...my dd has 4 and my dd has 7...daddy was even gifted one, granny too....why, some may ask...it is all about KinzPost in our family...sending mail and gifts of farm fresh food to each other...

This is an old post (but new to me!) and I am so glad to know that there are other Webkinz addicts out there. I would play CashCow2 into the wee hours of my insomnia, only to wake up in the morning and discover that my daughter had spent my hard-earned kash on items of questionable taste for her dog's room. My neighbor bought me my OWN Webkinz and it's all good now. How pathetic!

No, once you buy the stuffed animal and use its special code to register on the web site, there's no other fee.

This is too funny! I always love reading your blogs. (Silly me for not delving into the Wiki article yet but) does this cost money other than the $12 to but the animal thing? Is it a membership? I would so be in your shoes as well. My biggest weakness is annoyingly addictive games like that!

I remember other little electronic animal pets that kids had taken away in school where it teaches responsibility, feeding, taking care of something and whatnot. But now that I am older, it's only feeding the need to spawn future e-junkies and iPhone users. Hook 'em while they're young. Myself included - of course.

Zingoz Pop! OH MY GOD, now look what you've done.

So far it's taught my son to want to cook all the time, as you can "buy" a Webkinz cook book and "cook" several different recipes, then "feed" them to your pets. (I'll stop with the quotes now.) He's also learning to grow his own virtual food. So, in answer to your question, Cara, yes and no.
