Ha! The Captain and Tenille used to be our neighbors in Glenbrook Nevada till they moved out some years ago to a ranch closer to Reno.Toni was great and very personable.Love your blog and the band!

I saw your show in Cincinnati after you had Magnolia. You asked everyone close to the stage to refrain from smoking since you were breast feeding. I remember how ballsy I thought that was at the time and I hoped I'd be as confident when it came time to be a mom. I'm now a new mom! I took our daughter to IrishFest when she was 12 days old, and haven't stopped since. You were an inspiration back then to the gal I am now.

The boy I nanny for went through a "scared" phase like that. He would say he was scared of all the toys in his room at night, so his parents would "lock" them in the closet so they couldn't scare him any more.

the BUS misses you too! and so do i :) i have to make all this bread and soup in the morning all by myself and i don't have an assistant chef to help with any of it! i hardly ever find treasures, and i can't remember the last time i saw yo gabba gabba. so you could say i miss the girls as well :) hope you guys are doing great!

Just hope she does not tell her kindergarten teacher she hates her. My daughter was so distraught about Kindergarten she began taking her frustrations out on the teacher rather than me. Now at 10 she is fabulously happy at school.

My boyfriend and I were able to take my daughter to the UT show, a very special school night.

Curra's in Austin has avocado margaritas(delicious)

Kori, I had so much fun at y'all's show at UT last week! I teach there and my husband is on staff, so we were the "older" couple standing in the back. I was also the hugely pregnant lady standing in the back--this is the 2nd time we've come to see you all in Austin since I've been pregnant, and I had so much fun introducing our daughter (due this weekend) to Mates of State in utero! ;)

Just wanted to say thank you for a great show and a fun last hurrah for our music-loving pre-parent selves!

at least she doesn't love school so much she tells her teacher that she wishes she was her mother. that used to happen to me when i was a kindergarten teacher! there is always something... she will get used to it and she will like it. now i teach high school and it is a whole different game. like i said, always something.

We are going through the SAME THING. It's so frustrating. And today I had to pick my daughter up from school because she "wasn't feeling well". Crap, has she already figured out the hurt-tummy-get-out-of-school-card? I used to use that all the time so I could stay home and read. (NERD!) December, huh? Sigh...

Thank you. Writing this blog has been a cathartic experience for me. Retelling these somewhat random details of our life kind of helps me work through decisions and milestones (and helps me try to be a mom with integrity-living the life I believe I should live) that was mushy, sorry. I always feel a little weird reading your blog since I don't know you at all and your writings about life are so intimate. A) I thought I would let you know I read them so I'm not weirded out anymore. B)They have been inspirational. I have wrestled with what it means to be a mom and be myself and I thank you for being a part in helping me figure that out. My daughter is 2 (Naveed) and she loves dancing to your music.
